The advertising concept is based on the modern luxury of Cancun set amid the ancient Mayan world; a new paradise in an ancient world. Combining imagery of the old with the new shows that Cancun is a luxury destination with historical significance, appealing to tourists wanting either relaxation in luxury or eco-tourism, or both. The image of the Mayan ruins depicts the ancient civilization, while the icons of the pyramids and King Pacal, who reigned in the 7th century and was known as Pacal the Great, represents the greatness of the Mayan civilization and culture, as well as the historical significance of the Yucatán Peninsula and Cancun.
